It's a tricky spot to be in - knowing that it's very reminiscent of some other stories but still having the itch to write it. I've been racking my brain to see if there's something I can do with it, but I also didn't want to sit on it and try to be inventive for inventiveness' sake. At some point you've got to write the darn thing and hope the characters stand out. Maybe when I'm done with the first draft I can get some better perspective! Thanks for the comments!
