Eddy,

Someone referred me to this post, and I want to congratulate you on the birth of your little bundle of joy!

Our son is almost 3 now, and it still amazes me how much he has changed my world! I know for me that there was a tremendous feeling of love that I experienced like nothing I've ever felt before! It's always awesome to run across fathers that are excited about being a father. Too many are not, and I hope that together we can influence more to become great fathers!

I do see shades of Blade Runner and I, Robot, but Enoch's dialog here averts the robot interrogation tropes that I was sort of expecting. He sounds alarmingly human.

Yeah, JC, I've been aware of how derivative the whole thing was since I started. It's a tricky spot to be in - knowing that it's very reminiscent of some other stories but still having the itch to write it. I've been racking my brain to see if there's something I can do with it, but I also didn't want to sit on it and try to be inventive for inventiveness' sake. At some point you've got to write the darn thing and hope the characters stand out. Maybe when I'm done with the first draft I can get some better perspective!

Thanks for the comments!

I agree with Meaghan. However, the concept is solid and I love the character of Enoch!

It has a lot of potential, but I'm worried this may turn into a straight mix of I, Robot and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. While both are good, I'm not sure I'd like to read a no-punches-pulled amalgam of the two.

As for straight-up style and whatnot, very good.
